Hello, everybody. It's Adriana Baer, the host of I'm Into This Place, your friendly local podcast about arts, culture, and heritage in Southwest Washington. Today is Sunday, August 9th. It is day three and the last day of the Vancouver Arts and Music Festival, and I am here once again to give you my top picks, my what not to misses for today. It has been an incredible couple of days so far, and today is going to be no exception. We've got a full panel of activities and things to see and do. A reminder that I've got a booth right in the middle of the park. I hope you'll come by and say hi. Give us a shout-out for your favorite arts, culture, or heritage organizations, restaurants, coffee shops, artists you love, musicians you like to listen to. Anybody who's hanging out here in Southwest Washington, we wanna hear about them. We are putting together our Audience Choice Award for who we're going to start interviewing for next season, and we'd love to include your voice as part of that. And speaking of your voice, you can shout them out on the microphone in our mobile recording studio hosted by Jessica Geffen of The Sound Stage, the Northwest's premier voiceover and recording studio. And if you record your voices in our booth, you'll then get to hear your voice on an upcoming episode, shouting out one of the incredible organizations we've got here in our community. So come and say hi, do all of that, and then explore these incredible opportunities all around the park. Let's get into it. Here are my top picks for today. If you haven't yet gone over to the Hilton Hotel to check out the juried art show curated by Sharon Svec and many others in our community, be sure to pop over there. You can put in a vote for the Audience Choice Award. And then after that, go check out the Clark College student exhibition at the Esther Short Building. You can see them as they launch their career from here in Vancouver out into the wide, wide world. You can also check out last year's winners of the juried art show at the Corridor Gallery in the Esther Short Building just west of the park. Some workshops and interactive exhibits I wanna highlight for today, you can sculpt a raku mask, you can practice your weaving, and you can check out the Creative Makers Marketplace. Also, if you haven't spent a lot of time looking up at the festival yet, do check out the birds in the trees. These birds, with almost a four-foot wingspan, were designed and created by local artists and painted by community members at events throughout the summer. You can also check out the Gathering at the Gazebo installation at the pavilion at the south end of the park. You can go inside for some chill time or just see how the community came together to make this giant piece of art. Speaking of interactive, if you made a mask at one of the workshops that Pegasus Puppets was putting on, well, today at 10:30 AM, you can participate in the puppet parade. Actually, even if you didn't make a mask, you can still participate in the puppet parade, and if it's anything like last year, it's going to be whimsical and loud and really, really fun.

00 AM on the Music Stage, you'll find Zje Mongol. This is a dynamic youth-led Mongolian music group dedicated to preserving and evolving traditional Mongolian music through modern expression. I wanted to know more about these guys, so I looked at their YouTube, and oh my goodness, they are fantastic. I cannot wait for that performance. At 12 o'clock on the Dance Stage, Vancouver Movement Collective is performing. They're a vibrant, inclusive community where movement is for every body and every story. At 1 o'clock, also on the Dance Stage, check out the performance by the Northwest Tibetan Cultural Association.

And then at 2: 5:10

00 on the Music Stage, check out Under the Deku Tree. This is a high-energy funk fusion rock and jazz ensemble. And then 3 o'clock back on the Dance Stage, Teva Oriata, a Tahitian dance company. Then to close out the festival for this year at 6:00 PM on the Main Stage, you'll hear the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra once again. Tonight featuring Shelly Berg, Julian Schwarz, and Gerard Schwarz. They'll perform some cello concertos, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, Gershwin's An American in Paris, and Coleman Umoja's Anthem of Unity. Today's intermission conversation will be with Warren Black from All Classical, Maestro Gerard Schwarz, and cellist Julian Schwarz talking about American orchestral traditions and America 250 from George Gershwin to Valerie Coleman. And that brings us to the end of the Vancouver Arts and Music Festival 2026. At the end of these days, it always feels like we've been through so much joy, so much creativity together, so much community. I can't wait to see you there today. Please do stop by my booth.
